This product was purchased for my cat because I have a problem with ants that cover the cat food within minutes after setting out the food. It worked great.  I purchased 2 more for my dogs and noticed I was mopping up a lot less water after my hyperactive dogs went in for a drink. The water goes in top bowl and the spills are caught by the larger bowl on bottom. Great product!

First the demographics: I live in the middle of 50 acres in the Mississippi Delta. Needless to say ants are everywhere. It seems there is an ant hill on the South side of every tree, especially in the orchard. When I first came across the “Ants Out” ant proof pet bowl it appeared to be marketed as a dog food bowl. Having dogs and cats, I decided to try out first with my cats that always had to fight off the ants to get to their chow. I keep the cat bowl on top of a 55 gallon drum to keep the dogs out of the cat food bowl. That works for the dogs but not ants. The ants climb up the drum and into the bowl. I’ve tried everything from insecticide to garlic to try to ward off the ants.

When I first put the “Ants Out” bowl into service, I had to dump out the food left in the bowl as well as the ants. What a waste. I poured water in the reservoir and food into the bowl. The ants roaming around on the drum did not know what to do. Even after millions of years of evolution, ants haven’t learned to swim.

Sept. 2010--What a great pet food bowl without the ants. Bowl will pay for its self fast in food savings (not discarding food every day because of ants). Keeping bowl clean is also simple.
